Cost centres
The built-in cuts group by developer or repository. Cost centres let you group by the thing your business actually reports on: a team, a product, a client.
How a cost centre matches
A cost centre is a name plus a rule. Rules are built from two dimensions, developer and repository.
- Conditions on different dimensions are combined with AND. A centre listing two developers and one repository captures those developers, in that repository.
- Values within one dimension are combined with OR. Listing three repositories captures spend in any of them.
- A rule with no conditions is rejected. A centre that matched everything would silently swallow the rest of your allocation.
Order decides ties
Spend is allocated to the first centre whose rule it matches, so the order of the list is the tie-breaker. Put your most specific centres above your catch-alls. Reordering re-allocates immediately, and the preview shows what each change captures before you commit it.
What is left over
Spend matching no centre is reported as unallocated rather than hidden. That figure is the useful one: it is the part of your bill nobody has claimed yet.
Who can edit them
Owners and administrators define and reorder cost centres. Everyone else sees the resulting report.
