Account
Basic plan and aboveYour team
Bring the people whose spend you want to see into one account. Everyone keeps their own sign-in and their own usage; what changes is that the totals add up in one place.
The three roles
What someone sees follows their role, not their plan. Every surface in Lineman respects these, including the Reporting connector.
Member sees their own spend and savings, and nothing about anyone else.
Auditor sees the whole company, read-only. The right role for finance: full visibility, no ability to change a budget or dismiss an alert.
Administrator sees everything and can change it: budgets, cost centres, authorised repositories, alerts and members.
Adding people
You invite someone by email. They set up their own sign-in, and their usage starts counting towards the company from the moment they connect.
An invitation consumes a seat. If none is free you are asked to add one first, so nobody is invited into an account that cannot hold them.
Policies
Company-wide settings that apply to everyone rather than per person: what Lineman is allowed to send, and whether the savings statusline appears in your developers' sessions. Set once, applied to every member.
Activity
A record of the administrative changes made to the account: who invited whom, who changed a budget, who removed a member. Useful when a setting is not what you expected and you need to know when it changed.
