Zapier

Connecting Zapier lets you pull your AI-coding spend, savings, allowance and cost alerts into any of Zapier's thousands of apps - and change budgets, cost centres and alerts from a Zap. Nothing to install: you sign in to Lineman from Zapier and pick the steps you want.

Currently invite-only. The Lineman app is not yet listed in Zapier's public directory, so searching for it will not find it. Use this invite link to add it to your Zapier account.

Connect

  1. 1In Zapier, add a Lineman step to a Zap, or create the connection from App connections.
  2. 2Choose Sign in to Lineman. Your browser opens Lineman, you approve access, and Zapier is connected.
  3. 3Zapier keeps the connection alive on its own - you will not be asked to sign in again unless you revoke it.

There is no API key to copy or paste. The connection acts as you, with exactly the permissions your Lineman account already has.

What your connection can see

A Zapier connection can do only what you can do in Lineman. What a step returns depends on your role:

  • Administrator - company-wide figures, and every admin action (budgets, cost centres, dismissing alerts).
  • Auditor - company-wide figures, but admin actions are refused.
  • Member - your own spend and savings only.

Check the scope field. Company-wide steps do not fail for a member - they quietly return just that person's figures, with scope set to self instead of company. Read that field before treating a number as a company total.

What you can build

  • Trigger - New Cost Alert starts a Zap whenever a Lineman cost alert becomes active.
  • Searches - spend summary, breakdown, top spenders, spend over time, the raw ledger, savings, allowance, members, repositories, cost centres and subscription mix.
  • Actions - set a member's budget, create, update, delete or reorder cost centres, dismiss an alert, and authorise a repository from an alert.

Two things to try

  • Alert to Slack. New Cost Alert, then a Slack message - so a budget breach lands where your team already is.
  • Weekly spend report. Zapier's Schedule trigger, then Find Spend Breakdown, then add a row to Google Sheets.

Reading the numbers

  • Money appears twice. Every amount has a _usd field (a number, easy to display) and a _micro field (an exact whole number). Use _usd to show, _micro when you are summing and care about rounding. Never cents.
  • An empty budget is not zero. A budget that is null means the member inherits the company default - it does not mean they may spend nothing.
  • Times are ISO-8601 UTC, so Zapier's date formatting works on them directly.
  • Windows cap at 92 days. A longer range is rejected - split a bigger export into chunks.
