Lineman and Microsoft Teams

Route the cost digest and spend alerts into a Microsoft Teams channel.

What this gets you

Send your Lineman cost digest and spend alerts into a Teams channel as an Adaptive Card. The card shows the period it covers, total spend and what Lineman saved, with an Open Cost Explorer button through to the full breakdown. You create a Workflows webhook in Teams, paste the URL into Lineman, and press Test to prove it lands. The figures are company-wide and in US dollars, so pick a channel whose members are allowed to see company totals.

What people use it for

  • Cost digest in the channel

Each digest posts as an Adaptive Card with the period it covers, total spend and the amount Lineman saved. An Open Cost Explorer button goes through to the full breakdown. The card is pinned to Adaptive Card version 1.4, the version Teams renders reliably across desktop, web and mobile, and it is posted full width so the figures are not truncated.

  • Spend alerts in the same channel

Spend alerts route into Teams as well as the scheduled digest. The numbers cover the whole company, not the spend of whoever connected it, so choose a channel whose members are allowed to see company totals. You have to be an administrator of your Lineman company to save the webhook URL; other members can see the connection but not change it.

  • Proof the digest actually lands

Test posts a real Adaptive Card into the channel with zeroed figures, so go and look at Teams on a phone as well as a desktop. If the workflow is later deleted in Teams, Microsoft rejects the next delivery, and Lineman marks the destination as broken and records the reason rather than counting it as sent. Pasting a fresh URL over the old one clears the failure.
