Spend alerts post into a Discord channel, not just an inbox. They arrive as they fire, with amounts in US dollars rather than cents, so the figure in the channel needs no conversion before you act on it. Connecting Discord does not change which alerts fire and does not switch your email alerts off.
What people use it for
Point alerts at one channel
You pick the channel when you create the webhook in Discord, so alerts go to the channel you choose rather than a general one. Discord accepts the same message shape as Slack, so there is no app to install or authorise. You need a role with Manage Webhooks on the server to create the webhook, and Lineman accepts webhook URLs only on discord.com or the older discordapp.com.
Confirm delivery, and catch breaks
Test posts a real message into the channel, built like a genuine spend alert, so a message turning up in Discord proves the delivery path works and not merely that the URL is well-formed. A delivery Discord rejects is recorded on the integration and shown on its page in Lineman rather than swallowed. If you have other chat destinations connected, one breaking does not stop the others.
